The breed is native to Siberia and dogs of this breed were first brought to Alaska in 1909. Chukchi, native people of Siberia, have used these dogs for centuries to pull sleds, herd reindeer and perform watchdogging functions as well. Actually, this breed is very active and is not recommended for apartment life.
