Siberian Huskies - Recommended Tests
According to the OFA statistics, the number of hip dysplasia affected Siberian Huskies has decreased significantly since the 1980s. Much of the success can be attributed to responsible breeding. As for eye problems, Siberian Huskies do suffer from glaucoma and other disorders. Early diagnosing of eye problems can prevent blindness and exclude affected dogs from breeding, thus improving the breed. Early examination may not reveal any disorders. Hence, Siberian Huskies are tested usually after they reach the age of 18 months old. Examinations are repeated throughout the life of the dog, the last being carried out at the age of 7-8 years old. Siberian Huskies - Aiming at PerfectionKeep in mind that the Siberian Husky Club of America does not approve of breedings that do not have improvement of the breed as a priority. Hence, both a stud dog and a brood bitch should come close to the standard as much as possible to ensure an overall sound litter. All the papers and certificates should be in written form and signed by both the owner of the male and female.Responsibilities of the breeder also include early socialization of puppies. Siberian Husky puppies should get the first vaccinations to provide for good health and get a deal of interaction to develop a stable personality. It is good if the breeder follows the future of the puppies he/she produces. The breeder should be willing to answer questions concerning Siberian Husky diet, training, and activities. If the relationship happens to not work out shortly after the dog has been acquired, the breeder can help to find a new home for the puppy.
